DND works if you complain long enough

For all of you who registered for DND and are disgusted there is hope. My experiences with DND are that if you complain long enough and keep pushing your telco then the Spam SMSs do stop. Here's what I did

I've been on DND since the day it was launched. I kept getting Spam SMSes and calls but desisted from complaining. Would register my protest with the callers and gradually the spam calls have declined. Not stopped mind you but declined. The SMSes though have increased dramatically. Having reached my limit I started complaining.

The Vodafone website tells you how to register but has zilch info on how to complain about violations. I started writed emails (sometimes multiple emails in day) with the list of spam sms I had received. Senders name, time and date is important. The thing is Vodafone has to by law give you a complaint number for each SMS and report it to the operator from whom the SMS has originated. They promise to revert back to you within 7 days but good luck with that.

I started doing this over a 4 week period and accumulated over 30 complaint numbers. Vodafone was diligent enough to give me complaint numbers and revert within 7 days but no revert was ever received. I lost my cool and emailed Vodafone saying I wanted to escalate but got no joy.

Mysteriously though since the last 4 days I've not received any SMSes and hope that this blissful existence continues.

My learnings so far
1. Send emails for each and every spam SMS. Email is good and has to be responded to. Calling up customer care is not really worthwhile as there is no record
2. Do it diligently. Never let go with your email complaints.
3. You have upto 15 days to complain from the time of receipt. This is as per TRAI regulations. Vodafone will tell you 3 days but this is absolutely BS.
